NEW INCORPORATIONS TO THE XARXA CATALANA DE SENDERS

The GR 179 is a new GR that has been added to the net as a thematic route, because it follows a route used by the Maquis during the post Civil Spanish War. This route begins in Berga and ends in Manresa. It has a variant, the GR 179-1.
You can find the card of each of this routes in its corresponding section.

PUBLICATION OF THE GUIDE OF THE GR 192 (Routes in the Serres de Mestral)

This new guide, as well as those edited of the Cadí-Moixeró park and of the Val d'Aran, is the description of a net of marked routes in the defined area of the Serres de Mestral. This area includes the coast section from Cambrils to Amposta, as well as an imaginary interior line that links Cambrils with Reus, Falset, Rasquera, Tortosa, and Amposta. Inside this imaginary area, the most important mountain crests of Serres de Pradell, Serra de l'Argentera, Mola de Colldejou, Miranda de Llaberia, Serra de Montalt, Serra de Tivissa, Dedalts de Vandellòs, Serra de la Talaia, Serra de la Creu, Tossa de l'Alzina, l'Enclusa, etc.
It includes the description of the GR 192 with its variant GR 192-1 (from north to south); the description of four sections of the GR 92 that go from Amposta to Cambrils (from south to north); the description of two sections of the GR 7, from Colldejou to Rasquera; and the descriptions of the PR-C 53, PR-C 81, PR-C 90, PR-C 91, PR-C 92, and PR-C 96 (about 390 km of marked routes). ROUTES DAMAGED BY THE LATE WOOD FIRES

Because of the last August fires, there are several routes with damaged marking.

GR 5
The affected section goes from Sant Llorenç Savall, the valley of the Horta and the area of El Marquet.

GR 173-1
This variant, that partially coincides with the GR 5, has also been affected by this fire.

GR 177
The section of this route, that goes by the area of Monistrol de Calders and la Granera, has also been affected by the fire.

PR-C 145
This circular route by the area of Sant Llorenç Savall, as well as its variants, has been the most affected route, especially in its Northern part, near La Granera.

RECOMMENDATION
In those sections is better not to go now and leave them for later, when the land has assented a little bit and the consequences of erosion go down. Be careful if you go there, because marks do not coincide with the documentation given.

MAINTENANCE OF THE XARXA CATALANA DE SENDERS
Because of the negative of the FEEC to renovate the agreement with Senders de Catalunya, from the end of 1999, the responsibility about the maintenance of the Xarxa Catalana de Senders has been reassumed by the FEEC itself, that has established a maintenance system based in the work of the federated clubs and of some territorial representatives of those clubs that belong to the Comitè Català de Senders of the FEEC. The other subjects that was part of the old agreement (publications, promotion and informative service, and the professional mark of routes) have been assumed, exclusively minimum until 2008, by the association Catalana de Senderisme, who signed a three-branch agreement about those subjects with the FEEC and Senders de Catalunya.

CATALANA DE SENDERISME (sentence in the litigious with the FEEC)

Second sentence favourable to Catalana de Senderisme in the trial against the FEEC. This sentence has been edicted by the Audiència Provincial of Barcelona, and it denies the FEEC's appeal to the sentence edicted in Desember 10th, 2001. So, now, the solution has become definitive.

At the end of 1999, the FEEC sent a letter to several official organizations (Generalitat, Diputacions, Consells Comarcals, etc.) in which, with the aim of informing them of the no renovation of the agreement that the FEEC had with Senders de Catalunya, also included that, from that moment on, the FEEC reassumed all the competences in the subject of GRs, and did not include that several competences in this subject, such like publications, promotion, information, etc, were handed over to Catalana de Senderisme exclusively according to the agreement signed on November 25th, 1997.

In that moment, a guide of the GR 175 appeared published with the agreement of the FEEC, failing to fulfill the previous agreement.

In order to find solutions to those problems, there were several meetins between members of the FEEC and members of Catalana de Senderisme, but those meetings were useless. The FEEC even promised to sent another letter to correct the 'mistake', but this letter was never sent.

Because of this, the lawyer of Catalana de Senderisme asked the FEEC for this letter, and the FEEC never answered his pray.

In front of this negative, the lawyer presented an action in front of the Arbitrage court, but the FEEC refused its intervention because of a juridical tecnicism (a mistake in the name of the court).

Because of all of this, Catalana de Senderisme presented an action in the Tribunal de Primera Instancia 32 of Barcelona.

The judicial procedure took place on November 7th, 2001. On December 10th, 2001, the sentence was published. This sentence sides with Catalana de Senderisme, and declares that the agreement between the FEEC and Catalana de Senderisme of November 25th, 1997, is still vigent. The sentence also convicts the FEEC to send a letter in which the full vigence of the agreement between the FEEC and Catalana de Senderisme must be clarified to those entities: Turisverd, Consell Regulador del Camí dels Bons Homes, Turisme de Catalunya, Secretaria General de l'Esport de la Generalitat de Catalunya, Parc Natural de la Muntanya de Montserrat, Parc Natural Cadí-Moixeró, Parc Natural de l'Albera, Direcció General del Patrimoni Natural i del Medi Físic, Ajuntament de Barcelona, Consells Comarcals (all), Patronat de Turisme de Tarragona, Editorial Alpina, EOF Gràfics, Diputació de Barcelona, Institut Cartogràfic de Catalunya, Àrea d'Espais Naturals de la Diputacició de Barcelona and Síndic de la Val 'Aran. The sentence also convicts the FEEC to pay, because of the caused damages, 1.500.000 ptas.

THEMATIC ROUTES

NEW PUBLISHED GUIDES

There are two new guides that have been published lately.

A few weeks ago, appeared the announcement of the publication of the guide of the Verdaguer's Route. Now, the Route of the Green Meridian appears (only in CD-Rom), as well as the Ruta dels Segadors (Route of the Wheat Reapers) (in paper).

These tools have been made in order to help walkers in their walkings, as well as to spread the knowledge of places, usages and social questions that are usually not well-known.

CATALAN REFUGES

The refuge cards have been renewed and new information has been incorporated in most of them. There are two new refuge cards, one about the refuge of the Ras de Conques and another one about the refuge of Cortals de l'Ingla. Like the previous ones, all the information has been given by Jordi Empodas i Farré. If you want to have access to this section, click here.

SENDERS DE CATALUNYA

This association has changed its address. From now (provisionally), the new address is the following:

Senders de Catalunya
Social address: Creu de Molers, 6 bxs, 08006 Barcelona
Post address: Carrer del Pi, 6, 08004 Barcelona

E-mail: sencat@suport.org.- Tel. 609 334 872

THE COURT CONDEMN THE FEEC TO PAY THEIR DEBTS TO SENDERS DE CATALUNYA

From 1997, the FEEC had a great economic debt with Senders de Catalunya. This amount included several government helps that were received by the FEEC but not re-paid to Senders de Catalunya as it should be. This debt was claimed for several times, but the Direction of the FEEC was never able to pay it.
Because of the close negative of the direction of the FEEC, and after finishing any kind of friendly solution, Senders de Catalunya decided to start a judicial process in order to receive the money. It was the only possible way out.
The First Instance Court num. 29 of Barcelona decided, in January 15th, 2003, to condemn the FEEC 14.724,8€ (2.450.000 ptes) under the concept of unpaid debts. Although the economical demand of Senders de Catalunya was higher, the judge has estimated that only this amount can be proved to be paid to Senders de Catalunya. The FEEC had only recognised a debt of 817.220 ptes, so the amount it has to pay is about three times higher.

This sentence has been completed by the FEEC in March 20th, 2003.

BE A MEMBER OF SENDERS DE CATALUNYA

According to the last assembly's agreement, Senders de Catalunya has become an sports association. That's why the association has two kinds of members: the juridical personas (entities, associations, etc.) and the physical personas. This allows that, from now on, everybody can be a member of the association, because it is not necessary to be a member of any club to be a member of Senders de Catalunya.
