Camino de Santiago
(Aragon and Navarra)

Definition:
This is the variant of the path to Santiago that goes on by Aragon and
Navarra. It goes into Spain by the pass of Somport, and goes on by Aragonese
and Navarran lands until Puente de la Reina, where it meets the GR 65
and, together, they go on to Galiza. Both paths are the Spanish section
of the European path E-3 that goes from Emine (Hungary) to Santiago de
Compostela (Galiza).
Route:
In Aragon , the route goes
on as follows: pass of Somport (border), Candanchú, Canfranc station,
Canfranc, Villanúa, Castiello de Jaca, Jaca, Santa Cilia de Jaca,
Puente la Reina de Jaca, Artieda, Ruesta, Undués de Lerda and goes
into Navarra by Sangüenza. It has three variants: the GR 65-3-1,
that goes from Villanúa to Castiello de Jaca; the GR 65-3-2,
that begins in Atares, goes by the Romanesque monastery of San Juan de
la Peña and Binacua, and goes back to the GR 65-3 ; and the
GR 65-3-3, that goes by the pass of Palo, the Selva de Oza, Siresa,
Echo, Sierra de Dos Ríos, Bienés, Berdún and Martes.
This section is 190 km long.
In Navarra
the route begins in Sangüesa, and goes to Liédena, Foz de
Lumbier (natural reserve), Lumbier, Nardues, Aldunata, Izco, Abinzano,
salt mines of Ibargoiti, Monreal, Yárnoz, Ezperun, Guerendiain,
Tiebas, Campanas, Enériz, Eunate, Obanos, and Puente la Reina,
where the walker can visit the church of El Crucifijo (12th-14th century)
and the church of Santiago (12th century). In Puente la Reina, the path
unites with the French path that comes from Roncesvalles, and all together
go to Santiago.
