Sant Ignacio de Loyola's path
(Navarra and Euskadi)

Definition:
This route recalls the path used in 1512 by San Ignacion de Loyola to go from Pamplona, where he was injured, to Loyola, his birth village. .

Route:
In Navarra there are two routes from Javier to Pamplona that are commonly covered during the so-called Javieradas. From Javier, there are two options: the northern one goes by Liérdana, Foz de Lumbier, valley of Izagaonda, Tabar, Indurain, Urbikain, Ardanaz, Zuazu, Artaiz, Lizarraga, Llundain, Bodostain and Pamplona; the southern one goes from Javier to Sangüenza, Aibar, crest of Izko, Abínzano, salt mines of Ibargoiti, Monreal, Elorz, valley of Aranguren, Labiano and goes into Pamplona by Bodostain. From Pamplona, the two routes become one and go to the north-west to Irurzun, pass of Dos Hermanas, Lekumberri, Betelu and Azkarate after 170 km. It links with the GR 12 in Lekumberri; with the GR 20 in several villages; and with the GR 121.

In Euskadi it is about 45 km long and has the following route: col of Zárate, Altzo, Albiztur, Bidegoian, Baizama, Urrestilla and Loyola. It links with the GR 121, the GR 34 and the GR 35.
