GR 8
Ulldecona - Villel
(Catalonia and Aragon)

GENERAL MAP

Definition:
Together with the GR 4, the GR 10 and the GR 10-1, all are the Spanish section of the European footpaht E-7 (Lisboa-Constanza). The beginning/end of this route is in Catalonia, but most of it goes on by Aragon.

Route:
In Catalonia, the planned route is as folows: Ulldecona (GR 92), Sant Joan del Pas (next to the river Sénia until the village of La Sénia), dam of Ulldecona, col of Cervera, refuge of Font Ferrera (GR 7), fountain of El Teix, pass of Tortosa, fountain Mala and Beceite (Aragon) (50 km). Nowadays, the only marked section goes from the refuge of Font Ferrera to Aragon.

The GR 8 goes into Aragon after crossing the pass of Tortosa and going down to the village of Beceite. In this area, the GR 8 is about 350 km long around the Sierra de Gúdar and Sierra de Javalambre, until its ending in Villel. The most interesting points of this route are: Beceite, Fuentespalda, Peñarroya de Tastavins, Monroyo, Aguaviva, Las Parras de Castellote, Las Planas, La Algecira, Villarluengo, Pitarque, Cañada de Benatanduz, Fortanete, Valdelinares, Alcalá de la Selva, Mora de Rubielos, Valbona, La Puebla de Valverde, Camarena de la Sierra (GR 10), Riodeva and Villel (GR 10). Its variant GR 8-1 goes on as follows: La Algecira, Ladruñán, Cuevas de Cañart, Grutas de Cristal (caves), Ejulve and medieval bridge of El Vao (near Villarluengo) (GR 8).
