Review
of the guide
It includes
the description of the GR 92 in Catalonia, from Portbou to Ullde
cona, and its five variants: GR 92-0, from the harbor of Llançà
to the lakes of Vilaüt; the GR 92-1, from Palau-Sator to
the Casa Nova; the GR 92-2, from Lloret de Mar to the Pla de
Can Gelpí; the GR 92-3, from the col of La Clota to Castellet;
and the GR 92-4, from the Pla de Querol to Vilanova i la Geltrú.
A total amount of 720 km of marked routes.
This
description has been divided in sections that, theoretically,
can be make in one day (between 15 and 25 km). Each beginning
and ending is in places where public transport or particular
transport can easily arrive (train, bus, car...). Each section
is like a card, that includes: map (fragment of a map of the
ICC scale 1:50.000, with the route overprinted), description
of the route (with distances in time and km) and the profile
of the drops.
Because
of the big extension of the publication, the binding has been
made in order that the pages can be folded and the book can
be kept open without ruining it.
The
GR 92 is one of the most important routes, and is the essential
structure of other PRs and GRs. In order to facilitate the knowledge
of those routes and its connection point with the GR 92, in
the back cover there is a general map of the route and an informative
chart of those connections.
Another
of the new things of this book is the inclusion of an index
of place names that are included in the guide. Next to each
name, there is the number of the page where it can be found
and the number of the section according to the description.
Before
the description, there is a an informative section of rambling
with the following sections: Security in the mountain, preparation
of the outgoing and equipment; general recommendation; basic
rules of behaviour in nature; and using of the guide and marking.
The
general information section includes a card of each of the different
villages by which the route goes by (interesting data, telephones,
etc.), as well as protected areas, religious buildings, rivers
and archaeological sites.
