FOOTPATHS

GR 10 Puçol (València) - Aldea del Obispo (Salamanca)
This section crosses the area from the northeast to the southwest. The route goes on as follows: Guadalajara, Pontón de la Oliva (by the service paths of the Canal de Isabel II), Patones de Arriba, Torrelaguna, Bustarviejo, the cliff of San Vicente, Sierra de la Cabrera, the convent of San Antonio, Cañada Real Segoviana, Sierra de Guadarrama (surrounded by its southern part), Pedriza de Manzanares, Mataelpino, Navacerrada, Puerto de la Fuenfría (1794 m), Peña del Águila (2002 m), San Lorenzo del Escorial, Robledo de Chavela, Pelayos de la Sierra and San Martín de Valdeiglesias. There is the project of one variant, the GR 10-1 that will begin in Bustarviejo, and go on by Puerto de la Canencia, Puerto de la Morcuera, monastery of El Paular, Puerto de los Cotos and Puerto de la Fuenfría, after about 200 km in the area of Madrid.

GR 88 Provincia de Segovia
This route by the area of Madrid is really short, but it allows the walker to go by rural paths that have almost been lost and connect several small villages. The route goes by Sierra Norte, with wonderful landscapes. It has the following route: Presa del Pontón de la Oliva, El Atazar, col of La Pinilla, Puebla de la Sierra, Porrejón, La Hiruela, El Cardoso de la Sierra and San Lorenzo del Escorial.

GR 124 Senda Real
It is an old route that connected Los Reales Sitios and the city of Madrid with Manzanares el Real, where it links with the GR 10. In a second stage, this GR 124 must go on towards Aranjuez. The route begins in Madrid and in Somontes there appears three branches: the main route goes by the Puente de los Franceses and Carretera del Pardo; the second route goes by Dehesa de la Villa; and the third one begins in the underground station of El Lago, in the Casa de Campo. From Somontes, the route goes on by Monte del Pardo, Valdelatas, El Goloso,Tres Cantos, Colmenar Viejo, Cabeza de Manzanares (1136 m) and Manzanares el Real (48 km).
