Booking
Although to book a place in a refuge is not compulsory, it is highly recommended in order to make firm the possibility to sleep there. It also helps the guardian of the refuge in his/her job.




KINDS OF REFUGES
Bivouac refuge
Also known as "free refuge". It is always open, it does not have guardian. It is usually placed in lonely places, and people usually arrives there by foot, because it use to be far away of the common transport systems. Usually, it does not have a lot of comfort, because people usually just sleep there for one night.
Guarded refuge
It is the typical refuge of mid and high mountain, usually guarded. It has several services (sheets, food, drinks...). There, the walker can have more information of routes, weather, snow, climbing routes, etc. If this refuge is not guarded, it usually has an equipped space to relax and sleep.
Hostel refuge
This kind of refuge, apart from having the same as the guarded refuge, has the important characteristic of being in the foot of a road or a permanently open track, so the visitor can arrive there in car. If it is not guarded, it usually does not have place to shelter.
